Italia Basses, anyone here have one?

I don't have an Italia (yet), but this saturday I played with a Rimini. Connected it to an Ashdown Evo 300 and it sounded beautiful. I only did some slight eq tweaking on the Ashdown and I had a nice 'growl', with plenty of highs and lows. I also played some other basses in the same price range (€400-€500), but nothing came close to that nice tone combination of the Ashdown and the Rimini.

I didn't take it with me because I just ordered a LTD EC-404, but the Rimini is next on my list!

I love mine, it looks like the Ampeg bass, it's 5 string, I have had nothing but good luck with it so far, tons of bang for the buck!

I play a Maranello Classic in gold sparkle. I've had it for about 6 months, and minus the incredible nosedive abilities of this guitar it plays fantastically, and has a really good low end.

I bug him every time I'm there to stock the bass. My one concern is weight; the guitar easily weighs 10 pounds.

I have the Imola 4 string in amber w/ the faux wood grain pickguard, strung w/ TI Jazz Flats. It is a great sounding bass w/ a slightly clubby neck profile. I don't use it a lot, but whenever I do, I am impressed w/ how light it is and how resonant it sounds, even strung w/ the TI's. The cut out for the "f" hole helps with the weight, I guess. They are well made and sturdy feeling. Mine is factory original, as all of the hardware is quality along w/ the electronics. Hope this helps.

I don't own one but played an Imola in a local store. It was......ok. But that was about it. I didn't find the sound particularly interesting. Visually they kill ,especially the 5 string fretless. A good candidate for modding if parts are available. They look like the old Ampeg basses Rick Danko of The Band used. The other models look great too.

I don't remember it being that heavy, and I'm pretty conscious of weight due to shoulder issues. Sure wish another one would turn up around here so I could try it again. Very cool looking IMO.

I wish I could just buy one of those Wilkinson neck humbuckers to replace the stock pickup in my Rivoli reissue. But I can't find them for sale anyplace online. And I am having no luck finding a vintage Gibson mudbucker...

I’ve had tons of basses of all pice ranges and am proud to now call an Imola 5 my new main bass.
It is a very cool sounding bass, and more so after my EMG Jazz install. The neck is a bit on the thicker side and some lightweight tuners will help the slight dive because of the short upper horn. The note fullness, definition and audibility are seriously good. It is a lively bass with a big dynamic range and a satisfying character to its sort of ‘70s Jazz tone. The chunky neck gives a very solid note and the korina body is very alive.
Nonpolar pickup blending lends some very seductive tones and colors. It’s a quirky bass and I love it. Lots of compliments.
The bass is seriously underrated, and is a good platform for mods. I would recommend lightweight tuners… and you’ll have to open up the holes a bit to get them to fit— takes an hour but is well worth it. I might shave a little heft off of the neck, but at the expense of what makes the bass feel so darn solid and defined in the hands.
I definitely recommend.
