Its all gone..

Any update on the State Farm situation? I had renter's insurance through them for a while... thank goodness I never had to make a claim.

Yes. We got 100% hosed. Even the state insurance commission said we had no ground to stand on.

Here's the problem - basically state farm interviewed all my neighbors who were around right after the burglary. We had never met any of them up until that point. We explained about things that had been stolen to whoever was around to see if they saw anything. Unfortunately we did not realize at the time that when my lady's father bought the house only she was included on the homeowners policy. I wasn't. Stare Farm made it clear that none of my stuff would be covered. We agreed to not put any on the claim. And we didn't.

However, when we gave our deposition, a few things were different as far as ownership was concerned. Some things that i had given to my lady, State Farm didn't believe i had done that and assumed we were lying. They then took the words of neighbors who did not know us whatsoever. They claimed that said items were mine because i came out of the house screaming "my ____ has been stolen, all of my ____ has been stolen". SO the neighbors said that the items stolen belonged to me and not her. Even though i had given them to her YEARS ago. Like 8 or 9 years ago.

Long story short, State Farm said we INTENTIONALLY tried to defraud them. Using only the statements of people who did not know us, or had any clue as to who owned what, as evidence that we were lying.

The state insurance commission said it was our word against about 5 others who had a different story. People that did not know anything about us, including our names.... until that day when i came running out of the house, freaking out looking for anyone who saw anything.

That want me to change my insurance. Sorry for your loss.
