Its all gone..

ok, so today we get the call.. Homeowners insurance claim DENIED and coverage DROPPED effective jan 18th, the day of the burglary. They claimed that we tried to defraud them. WITH OUR OWN STUFF.

I went to Bass San Diego this past week and was told by George that the insurance investigator actually went to Bass San Diego and didn't believe my receipt for the TH500 was actually from that shop. Even after he printed out a copy, she was still skeptical. Like i would have them just print up a fake invoice???? REALLY STATE FARM???

It's suing time boys. :spit:
That's terrible. I have State Farm for both auto and renters insurance, and will have to reconsider whether or not I wish to retain their services after hearing horror stories like this.

State Farm is the worst insurance company in the world. ..... But ever since then, I never viewed State Farm as anything but complete and total scumbags. Personally, I think the head of the company should be arrested and imprisoned for insurance fraud, because their insurance is a fraud.

Thats how we feel! They treated us like the criminals! The worst part is that ON PAPER, we were said to have tried to DEFRAUD AN INSURANCE COMPANY. That's ruining my lady's name, my name, her parents name...

Sure they make funny commercials, have a cool slogan... but you know what? They make money BECAUSE THEY DONT PAY OUT. Shame on you State Farm!

Wow. Sorry to hear your story here.

My place got broken into a few years back, and I came home while they were still there. They went out the window. I didn't see anyone, and while they ransacked my place, they didn't take anything but a few bucks I had on a desk. Cops gave me a hard time when I called them over, but I don't want to derail this thread. Just saying this to let ya know I know the violated feeling. And they didn't even get anything from me.

Oh yeah, in NY they don't steal instruments. Too hard to move. Laptops, jewelry, cash, and electronics or they're not interested. Takes a lot of balls and stupidity to steal instruments. What can they do with them without getting caught?

Anyhow, plugged in. Hope this works out for you.

Not to defend state farm but had them since 1972 and never had a problem with a claim on my house or cars. My house got hit with hurricane Sandie and got settle promptly.
Yeah, well what could they do with Sandy? Open and shut case there. State Farm even paid off the hurricane victims in Miami too, right before they threatened to pull the plug in Florida.

So sorry to hear your stuff got ripped... and I've had issues with insurance companies in the past as well. Seems you are getting the short end on both sides of the stick.

I know it sounds corny, but try calling Turko (KUSI). He loves to air dirty laundry like this, and although it won't get your gear back, maybe the bad press can persuade State Farm to rethink your claim.

Best of luck, and I'll keep my eyes open down here in the South Bay for your stuff.

OK, so anyone still following - Our local Sate Farm agent (who we've had for years with car insurance before the house was purchased) said the investigator was very disrespectful to them when they called to ask about why our claim was denied. They also used the term "Snippy" when describing the language the investigator was using. Our agent also said it seems like we were "wrongfully discriminated" against for a reason they are not sure of.

It's not over and we are not going down lightly. If they do not renegotiate we are calling the state insurance commission and filing a formal complaint. Every person the investigator spoke with was able to confirm the items that were in the claim.

Any word on this?

Well, no sign of my stuff and we requested the claim be re-opened and reviewed by a supervisor.

We were told that the supervisor did a review and said no way. They have not provided us of any proof on paper that a review was initiated or that anyone signed off denying our claim for the 2nd time. They have not yet provided any shred of evidence to us that a review actually happened. This is becoming very irritating.

Getting robbed twice sucks even more.

Usually the note to the state comm gets results(had to use that on a car insurance co swap, 1st company didn't want to refund our 2 months "prepay"). I would take the "next step" and possibly get an attorney(prefer a friend or low cost one) to send Certified Letters detailing your treatment to:

1) The state insurance board/commissioner again
2) Your Regional Snake Farm office(include a copy of the letter sent to the state)
3) Corporate CEO and/or selected members of the upper management/board of directors(include state letter)

Step 3 got a Sprint problem fixed when they tried to hit me with a few hundred dollars in roaming charges when I was a mile from their tower. Got the runaround from their "Customer Service" so a Certified letter to Kansas City(home office) addressed to the CEO got me a personal call from Sprint Kansas City and "the problem you were having with your billing has been corrected Mr. Johnny Crab".
You've played nice, I'd escalate and jump to the top & show the big bosses the problem.
Sounds like someone local is avoiding claim payment to help their Profit/Loss numbers at your expense.

"Like a good neighbor", right.
I had Snake Farm Insurance in the early 80's in New Orleans when my home was broken into and vandalized. They did pay but we got cancelled directly after they paid.

Wow this sucks. I have been reading deeper into this forum as I was just the victim of a stolen bass as well and it's SUCH a bummer. I'll keep an eye out but I hope everything works out with your insurance - which totally scares me because I have state farm as well.

I used to have state farm for my car. they decided to cancel me, without telling me. which was a real problem because at the time I lived in a state requiring insurance, and one was fined for every day he didn't have such. I went about 6 months before I figured it out - no bill came. even when I called them, they gave me an argument. I had no accident, nothing like that. they just dropped me.

I had $15,000 of basses stolen from my house, and State Farm claimed I make money playing bass (even though that isn't my job and I don't!) and capped my claim at $1,500!!! Needless to say, we changed insurance as soon as that check arrived. DON'T USE THEM FOR RENTER'S INSURANCE!

I feel your pain, man. I went through 3 supervisors on the phone and still got nowhere with State Farm.
