It's snowing!!

I was out walking my dogs in it this morning, it's really quite pretty here in Greensboro, NC today. I had a difficult time making myself get in the car and drive to work, just wanted to sit in my kitchen and stare out the bay window at the trees in the back yard covered in snow. Looks like we've got about 1" right now, and it's still coming down....

I know you "real northerners" are finding our reaction humorous, but it is a bit unusual for us to see this much on the ground for any length of time!

:)

As a fellow Southerner, I can't agree more. When you only get a little bit of snow once a year, or less, you get yourself home (or stay there!) and enjoy it. You don't go out and spin around on the ice in your vehicle and get yourself kilt. We have no real reason to know how to negotiate frozen stuff, as we only encounter it once in a blue moon. So...enjoy the lovely white cold fluffiness!!!

I am entirely jealous. We've hardly even seen frost this year. I planted Boston Bibb lettuce in November, much too late...and it is as green and happy as can be! It snowed one night, for about an hour, then melted soon as it got close to dawn. We got gypped!!!

Hey, T.O., it is pretty funny to see people around here react to snow. 1 1/2 inches and the schools and public offices are closed. I'll bet the grocery stores are already out of bread and milk. The parking lot was packed at 8:45. I never understood why those two items are always the first to go. Myself, I go for the beer!!

I lived in NE Connecticut for many years, and it was amusing to see the bread, bottled water, and milk depleted in the supermarkets even when mere snow flurries approached--as if we were going to be snowbound for days by an inch or two of snow. In reality, once in a decade or two we might get snowed in for more than a few hours by a heavy snowfall.

I think the TV weather people are in cahoots with the grocery stores to create the hysteria and drive up sales. They got the same deal with the people at the home improvement stores.
