iZotope for Muting Bass Frequencies?

Hi there!

I didn't know where else to post this so here I go. I searched around the Internet for some recommendations on software that can help with muting the bass line in songs so I can play instead.

I understand that this cannot be perfect of course but I see discussions about iZotope being able to do a very decent job with this. $300 is a lot of money, however, for just this feature so I was wondering if anyone has tried it or thinks there is a similarly decent alternative.

This was my aspiration when I got the bass a few months back and had great fun with famous songs that were edited and published on YouTube. But I will need to be able to do it myself so I can have fun with any song I feel like playing along with.

So, any help here will be much appreciated.

Why not just use a simple EQ plugin and apply a high pass filter? Much cheaper...

EQing out the low frequencies is the way to go. Also, I've purchased a quite a few tracks off this website to play along to - the quality is mostly really good, and no bass!

Moises. Available on iOS and Android. Allows for a track to be separated into up to 6 (or 8?) discreet tracks, based on the instrumentation involved. It’s a subscription but whatever - grab it for a month, do what you need to and then cancel it. It’s a super useful app and it’s worth it.

deCoda by zplane development. Available for PC and Mac and the LE version is currently available as a free add-on to any purchase at plugin boutique right now. Allows you to isolate instruments by frequencies and where they live in the stereo field. Another good product.

Don’t try to high pass the music in an EQ plug. That’ll kill off everything, including the kick drum. It’s like using a steamroller to get the creases out of a pair of pants. There are actually quite a few products on the market that can do what you want. With a thorough google search, you should be able to find most of them… that’s what I did and it worked out for me. Another vote for Decoda. It works surprisingly well and won't break the bank.

Another product I've just started to experiment with is Song Master.

Edit: I also tried Rebalance but was less than impressed.
