J/MM pickup combo. Nordstand or Delano?

I'm building a bass and am planning on having a J in the neck, and MM in the sweetspot but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to use.

Delano Hybrid with matching J pickup an Sonar 2

Nordstrand MM and J (I play all kinds of music. Suggestions?) with their 2B-4a preamp.

If anybody has other good combos please let me know. It will be going into a top routed jazz bass, so ideally 3 knobs, but I don't have any major issue with 4. I just don't wanna drill a hole in the side of my bass.

Thanks,
Devin

I'm looking at doing the same thing.

If you go Nordstrand I would think you could get a variety of combinations; single coil, split coil, hum-cancelling, MM4.2, MM4.3...etc.

Not as familiar with Delano. From what I've seen from MarloweDK on youtube they are very edgy/trebly/modern sounding.

I'm right where you are. Delano Hybrid is interesting, but I'm thinking the Nordstrand option with a split coil J-pickup at the neck is the way to go -- hum canceling no matter how you do it.

Eventually I'd like to do my own build, but I think I may try to find a beater bass to start playing around with pickup configuration first. Life is getting busy and may be a while before I can really get to the build. I'll definitely be keeping track of your progress.
