I’ve never used them. When I bought this bass it came with the Aguilar pickups in it already. I’ve been looking at the EMG J5 set but not sure I want to have to mess with a battery. I’m not opposed to the Fender pickups though.
Has anyone installed fralins in a 90s MIM jazz who can confirm thst the screw holes and flanges are correct when you check this box?
I went ahead and ordered the Fender Noiseless pickups. I should be able to get them installed Saturday and will see how I like them.
Just measure the length of both of your pickups. If they are same length then you need the equal sized pickups.
It's not just the length that's different. The screw holes are farther apart than a regular neck pickup. I did a fit check with a regular jazz neck pickup housing and it doesn't fit.
Why not just start a thread about noiseless jazz bass pickups?
I just bought this secondhand 2000 Squier Standard 5-string P-Bass, as it's exactly like one I had many years ago but traded in, which I've regretted ever since. Except I can't remember whether that one had a standard P pick-up, P-J, or J-J like this one, as back then I was just PFC (pretty f'ing clueless).
It's yet to arrive, so I have no idea how it'll sound, but my instincts are to potentially spend some money on it to try and make it sound as P-bassy as possible, given that I've already got a J-Bass that I'm happy with but no P-Bass. One route would obviously be to get rid of all the electronics, get a new pickguard (trying to find one that's an exact fit - I'm sure that'd be fun, thanks Fender!), and just install a P pick-up, or maybe a P-J combo.
Alternatively, I could replace at least the neck pick-up (and possibly the bridge too) with one that sounds more P-bass like. So, what would the best options be for such a pick-up?

I recently installed a set of Seymour Duncan Apollo noiseless pickups in my Fender Player II series Jazz. I think they're amazing. Super quiet and very responsive. Changing either volume control makes a noticeable difference in tone, which I've never noticed in any other Jazz Bass I've played. They're bigger pickups than the originals, too, about a quarter inch taller, so more coil more oomph. I recommend these highly.

I’ll have to put Apollo pickups in my next jazz, whenever that comes.
Meanwhile, just put DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups in a bass, and they’re sounding great. Only negative comment I’ll make is that they’re quite tall with a prominent magnet sticking out the back. Was glad I used thin foam while adjusting the height.

Apollos are tall as well. About a quarter inch taller than the usual single coil Jazz Bass pickup. They fit with no routing required in the Fender Player II Jazz.
I put in an order now for these (Fender Pure Vintage '66 Jazz Bass Pickup Set) in my mim Fender Classic 60's Laquer! Existing pickups are rather bland and bright, so looking forward to the new pickups.
