No, the Epiphone case is just as long as it needs to be! I usually store the strap in the compartment under the neck. I was more interested in what material the case is covered with. I'm on my second Epiphone case in 4 years, and they're not cheap!

Ahh..okay...hardshell + motorcycle is a no go.. so I tend to just store the cases and use good gig bags for transport to gigs/practice and day to day use.

Ive had a gold top since 2002, and just got the Anniversary one. Was excited about the gig bag but
it is pretty lame. The strap is ok, but smooth. Both the bag and strap have my initials JC. ha.

Just received an email from Mooradian, they already have the specs and that they
would make a custom bag for $385. ouch, but Im pretty sure they are very good bags though.
Contemplating....

Johnny B, thanks for bumping this thread.

I'm seriously thinking of replacing the tuners on my Jackbass, and I forgot where I saw the info about changing them.

It's in the first post in this thread.

Good luck with your 20th Anniversary model. I love that color, and would love to get one, but I don't know if I could justify the cost right now.

I wonder how long they'll be available.

First off: the best news: my Mono sleeve gig bag fit the JC somewhere between snug and tight. The stock elephant ears on the giant headstock will get detuned, the padding fits tight in the shoulder of the body but it wasn't like I had to force the zipper to lock. Man was I happy about that.

Secondly: replacing the tuners hipshot ultralites was a good move for 3 reasons : 1) noticeably helps the balance; 2) it also helped the headstock fit the the mono sleeve better (I used the Y-key ones, I can live without elephant ears) 3) they are much better tuning keys, the ones that come stock are barely good enough at keeping the bass in tune.

Thirdly: I replaced the bridge with a Supertone and honestly, I am not convinced that made it a better sounding bass to my ears. It certainly is a different sounding bass with it, and actually to my ears moves towards a 'regular' P bass, more metallic sounding. While it is a beautifully made bridge, much better construction etc, more and more I do start to believe that the hardest material on a bridge does not automatically lead to a "better" tone. It is a matter of taste - I may return to the stock bridge, cheesy and clumsy as it is.

Fourthly: I put on my personal faves, light gauge Fodera steel rounds (40-100). The bass sounds great with these. Full, lots of attack, a brooding agression of sorts that fits this bass quite well, IMO

Just FYI: the Chromacast 6 pocket heavy duty acoustic bass Gigbag fits the Jack Casady bass perfectly.

heya

Can I ask, which mono sleeve this is M80? Also, you say this JC bass had modifications, is that what allowed it to fit in the case? Looking for a good quality gig bag right now but struggling!
