Jack Casady

Who is next to Casady in this photograph taken from the late sixties Monterey Pop Festival?

From which year is that Fender Jazz Bass? Could it be 1964 or 1965?

Thank you.

Ha-ha! That guy doesn’t look anything like Marty, sorry. :smug:
Look over Jack’s right shoulder, to the back, that looks like Marty. As for the other guy…
Jeremy Steig, perhaps? He was a younger rebellious jazz guy that dabbled in rock occasionally…

…or maybe one of the horn guys from Sons Of Champlin or Cold Blood?

Not sure who is playing flute but that is Paul Kantner behind Jack's right shoulder.

Jack is still an awesome bass player, always well worth seeing, but his style has changed over the years. He now rarely plays the way he did in Jefferson Airplane but I did see him perform a couple of the old tunes at the Surrealistic Summer Solstice Jam in Golden Gate Park a couple of years back. I thought the two tunes he performed on were the highlight of the day. Here is a link to "Somebody to Love", they also performed "White Rabbit".

Actually, I don’t think Jack played the same in Hot Tuna as he did in JA. A Trio calls for some adjustment. Just an observation as I’m not all over Jack’s playing over the years.

They only did HT tunes last night and the songs from ‘Burger’ sounded great.
