jack slot problem

Hi
I just bought a poor bass guitar that has the jack installed badly to the body. (see attachment) The ring doesn't rest properly on the body and leave a big gap on it.
I would like to re-fix the jack to body so that it is conformed with the body contour but not sure how to work on it so wanted to check with you guys before doing something wrong.

You could Ream (Drill bit) the original hole the direction you are attempting. this will re-correct the jack, then if you have to, use a washer slightly bigger than the final hole, on the inside of the cavity.

I was thinking this way also but I thought it could be another way but guess not.

is there something in the hole that is preventing it from seating all the way? Maybe a paint drip or something?

are always problematic even if installed correctly. You would be better off to glue a short piece of dowel in the hole and bore it out to 7/8 inch. Then you can install an "Electrosocket". You will be glad you did.
