Jaco bass

My friend just recently got a used Jaco Jazz bass(fretted) for a deal of about a little more than $600 USD, the bass was never played much and was in mint condition.

I always thought that Jaco Basses was worth more money? Or am i just being stupid.

And by the way he's curious about his bass' DOB, so is there anywhere i can check it? His serial is #T900477

The expensive one is the Jaco "relic", which lists for around $4,000.

Fender made some 'regular' Jaco signature models (fretted and fretless) which were usually around $1,300 new (list was about $1,800-$1,900, but nothing ever sells for full list price).

$600 for a used fretted Jaco signature bass sounds like a fair deal if it's mint and plays/sounds good.

I know this thread is ancient, but I wanted to to chime in if anyone is interested.
I'm working on a Fender Jaco Pasturius Jazz Bass serial number list (and approximate manufacturing dates). I'll post more when I get up to current new models. If you'd like to share your serial number, I would appreciate it.
