The true lesson is that Pat Metheny is hugely talented guitarist and composer! I do not think it is an accident that Bright Size Life was the only great recording Jaco made, when he burst onto the screen, that he did not totally dominate.

You got that right! That is why my intonation goal is to be consistently close and regularly exact. I don't think I will ever be consistently exact.
