Whatever. :rolleyes:

I can't understand why many on this board want to take a poke at Dann Glenn or Jeff Berlin every chance they get.

Then these same people turn around and get mad at so called Trolls for being jerks in OT and stuff.

Maybe it would be a good idea for us to remember to be mature all the time and not just when it suits us.

Well that's dead-wrong. I listen to such great jazz artists as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Paul Chambers, Bill Evans, Dr. John and James Booker. So, obviously, Bill Hicks is wrong.

What difference does that make? If they acted like jerks at people that were being jerks to them also, I say the score is even.

More on the drug topic,

It seems that victor wooten is clean, same thing with patitucci, bootsy (just kidding), and a bunch of other great bassists.

The only story i've heard about drugs enhancing a performance was from one of the jazz teachers at my school talking about how he saw Tower of Power come out of a van full of smoke and play an awesome show.

They acted like jerks towards the whole of Talkbass when they deleted every trace of their presence here. I still can't see what good that did!

But as you said yourself: whatever. We're digressing.

i cant say anything bad about Dann Glen, he's been a great guy to me, helped me when i needed help in certain aspects of my playing, when i asked about his music, he offered to send me 3 of his cd's when he couldve just said go to the store and buy these cd's and youll know more about my music...he's a helluva nice guy.

Actually when we saw bela and flecks in st.louis we got to meet future man and he was really stoned! Eyes were all red and he had that stoned grin and what was he doing? Eating nachoes like they were the last bit of food on the earth! Actually i find nothing wrong with smoking a joint to help you be creative when making music! Its when they start the heavy crap is when they die! For example!

Actually! They mellowed out and started to suck once they hired Glen Ballard! That's the problem, not drugs!

What album was that? Maybe I thought it was initially Ballard rather than Child, but I know Ballard's made them suck recently!

It's pretty moot point for me; I haven't like almost any of their material after their first break up (if my timeline is correct).

Desmond Child began to have a big say in their songwriting on Permanent Vacation, the "big comeback album" they put out in 1987.

That section of email also mentions the bouncer was a "He". Does that make Dann sexist also?

Jeez people, stop being so freekin' sensative. You have no right to assume that Dann is a racist just because he (truthfully) states the nationality of the guy. I for one am getting mighty tired of all these racist labels that are thrown around without any thought or reason.

It isn't necessarily racism. It's small-mindedness.

In Nam, many vets learned to associate "Vietnamese" with "enemy," which made sense because most of the South Vietnamese didn't want our troops there and would sabotage their efforts routinely. (Moral: don't prop up corrupt, incompetent dictatorships and then spout off about "democracy" and "freedom.")

Flash forward to 1987 and it's a different story. I'd bet that the vast majority of Vietnamese in the US are individuals or the children of individuals who did support our efforts there, no matter how wrong-headed they were. They are not the enemy. A bit of mental effort would allow a Vietnam vet to realize this. (It worked for my father, who was a Foreign Claims Commission officer and would be shot at after paying off ostensibly friendly villages for the misdeeds of US soldiers.)

DG obviously hasn't made that little mental effort, but that's not surprising for a guy who says that using a pick is wrong because of "simple physics."

I think were actually losing the point of the post. To begin with...In Milkowski's Jaco, he stated that for a long time Jaco wouldn't touch drugs and alchohol. He was a teetotaller for a long period of time. Through a series of events he began the long spiral of drug and alchohol addiction, but that isn't what killed him. As stated earlier, Jaco had a severe mental illness that didn't seem to develop until he was older. That is not uncommon. A numerous amount of mental illness cases don't develop until the patients are in their 20's and even 30's. This is what caused Jaco the most trauma. The infamous night he went to the Midnight Bottle Club in Ft. Lauderdale was a bad night for Jaco in more than one way. His mental illness had taken a firm foothold in his life. He began taunting the band's bass player during their set. At this time, Jaco seemed (to the general public) more like a homeless "whacko" than the greatest bass player in history. "Jaco was denied admittance because he was drunk and abusive." He beat Jaco horribly. The bouncer did know some sort of self-defence technique, but apparently didn't temper it with brains. To quote Milkowski, "...they found Jaco lying face down in a pool of blood. His skull had been fractured. Several facial bones were fractured. His right eye was ruptured and dislodged from his socked, and there was massive internal bleeding." The "person" whom Dan Glenn referred to claimed it was an accident and he pushed Jaco back, causing him to fall on the curb. You tell me if the injuries are consistant with that story. Anyhow, Havan pled a reduced charge of manslaughter and only went to jail for less than two years, but only was actually in jail for four months. Four months.

and on that note, since this post got so far off topic and started to be one big SNAFU, im going to close it. Again, if you dont have something nice to say, just don't say anything at all, play nicely kids or dont post at all. Got It Good.

Its a crying shame that everyone's always got to find fault in others instead of trying to find the good in them.
