Hey, this is my first thread. Thought there might be one or two of you here that'd know more about this than me, hope someone can help:
I use a Fender Jaguar bass as my main bass, I tend to find it very versatile to use live and I like a big crunchy bass tone of the active electronics. I recently bought a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, not to use as a distortion stomp box, but for the tube amplifier emulation circuitry so that I would have a consistent sound live when plugging into a variety of amps at gigs... That SVT sound at a fraction of the price! The bass sounds amazing when only going through the Sansamp for recording, but I haven't quite worked out how to use it best live?
I would like to go via the XLR output to the desk (as a bass DI) for my monitors and use the 1/4 output to go to the amp. Should that be into the effects return or main input?
I don't really use effects (all I need is a TU2 and an overdrive for now really) but when I position my Boss ODB3 in front of the SansAmp in the chain it sounds very flat and tinny after going through the Sansamp. The overdrive sounds much fatter when it is going direct to the amp than after going through the SVT setting? Is this an issue to do with unity gain or should I not be using the Jaguar bass preamp as well as the SansAmp? Or is this something to do with compression?
So this is what the set chain looks like at the moment
ACTIVE JAG BASS - TU2 - ODB3 - SansAmp < DESK/
AMP
I realise there is better pedals such as RAT and BigMuff but is there any solution to this setup?
Thanks
