JagBird

I posted my JagBird bass in another topic, and given the reactions I thought it would be nice to kick off a new topic.

I've built the bass myself using top-notch parts. I've designed the bodyshape myself and have let it custom-made.

The idea was to get the best of two worlds in one bass, but with a twist. This is what I wanted to combine in one bass:
* playability of a Jazz;
* punch of a Fender;
* big mean tone like a T-bird;
* raised mid-section on the body;
* hybrid looks a Fender/Gibson.

It worked! I used a mahogany body with raised mid-section, with Hipshot hardware and nasty RS/Fralin Bassbuckers. It just sounds huge!

I'm planning to build more of them: one for myself with ChiSonic Humbuckers and I've already recieved an order to build one exactly like the first one.

What do you think of it? And what would be a nice color to finish the next one in?

+1. I think the next one would look cool in transparent red kind of like the old Gibson EBs. But that's just my €0.02.

With chi-sonics and a lakland bridge I would have believed that to be a new Lakland model. Beautiful.

I considered the Supertone bridge, but expected it to be to high (baseplate + saddles) for a smooth setup on a "Fenderish" bass. So I went for the A-style bridge.

I'm considering to have my next JagBird finished in Sherwood Green (or British Racing Green), matching headstock, maple Jazzneck with black blocks and binding, ánd a set of ChiSonic Humbuckers. Although a set of CS Single coils with a push-pull pot is also delicious, but this bass just asks for humbuckers.

I wouldn't have thought you could get a patent now you've posted it like this, most patent apps require very few people to know about the idea, so unless there is something you're not telling us...

If I'm not mistaken your intent was to install a pickguard if so don't do it it looks great without it.
