Hey sorry to necro this post, but would you happen to have the tab for this bass line?

I used the Standing in the Shadows of Motown book (notation without tabs) and my ear to pick up this tune. In my opinion, tabs just won't really cut it for learning the rhythm on these lines, haha. There's some out there, but I haven't found many of them to be very correct. I'd highly recommend picking that book up. It's more than worth it for all the transcriptions, CDs with interviews and famous bass players playing Jamerson's lines, and the history that comes along with it.

I've been feeling pretty disenchanted with my posh "MIA" lately and am wondering whether i'd be better off getting a Squier, MIM or MIJ Fender (i'd really love a Tokai) with a rosewood fretboard, and some adjustments. I like Lindy Fralins, and your strings sound good.

Thank you very much. I think it's all about what you enjoy playing more than anything else. My favorite right now is a $50 rescue-project Peavey Foundation. Sounds incredible for all of the more modern stuff that I do. It sounds like you've got some stuff you really connect with and want to try out - keep the Fender, but go have some fun finding something that really makes you want to play!

This is great! Looking forward to hearing how you broke this apart to learn it. There's some pretty good sixteenth syncopation in there...stuff that can make reading a single measure tough...for mr at least.

Haha, for you and for me and everyone else. It's quite the line, but it really does feel great when you get your head around it. Those videos are still upcoming, and I'll be changing a few things to match the recording better.

Wow! That's awesome that you ran into that. Thanks a bunch! That's a video we shot ourselves and had a friend with final cut in a local studio do some magic to. We were surprised with how well it turned out! We recorded and mixed the track professionally, but we're a little less experienced with the video end, heh heh.

Well, I think that was all the soul I had for that night. I'll try for more though I guess, lol.

That guy's interpretation is my favorite on Youtube, he's a great player and I'm really impressed with his playing in general. Great, great stuff.
