Still love Rides Again and Thirds! I saw JG live in Omaha in the mid 70s with Roy Kenner and Domenic Troiano. With all due respect, my eyes were glued to Dale the entire show. He made that P-bass sing AND thump!

my older sister bought "Yer Album" and Grand Funk first lp when they came out ( I was 7) and played them along with Rides Again constantly. Thanks sis. Still like Funk 48 better.

Well, the James Gang is my favorite band of all time! You've been mentioned in many threads on this website over the years, so I think it's safe to say that you are remembered quite well here. I was lucky enough to meet Joe briefly last month, so now getting the chance to communicate with you is just awesome!

Help, does any know the guys name that played bass with
Joe Walsh on the james gang live album?
I found an old cassette tape the other day that took me back to my teenage years and it was the frist bass solo that
I heard when him and Joe were trading licks and even the drummer got to do his solo to . anyway that was a big hit with me back then,but i dont remember the bass players name
the cassette was missing it's cover , and what's he doing now days? he sure influnced me back then..

Dale, when Rides Again was being recorded, did anyone involved have the sense that the album would still be considered as a great album almost 50 years later?

For me, it is one of my top ten R&R albums of all time. Even though the styles are very different, I rank it up there with Sgt Pepper, Pet Sounds, and LA Woman.

We knew that it was good because we were at the top of our game at that time. It came fast and easy, we jammed a lot and Bill Szymczyk put it all together.
