James Jamerson - Must Read Article.....

there wasn't really any news there for me, but i liked it. what did you like about the article? thanks.
If the bass is played the right way, it is played from
your heart!
There are a lot of current bassists who concentrate
on being tacticians and lose the human element (heart & soul) of being a bass player.
Mr. Jamerson was spot on with his statement, and I repeated the same
statement to others prior to reading the article!

I also found it interesting that Motown would hold up production to wait for him to come off the road instead of using another bassist!

i agree with you: it was nice to hear that from a player who is so well respected. "playing from the heart" is a simple, elegant bit of advice. and i agree with you about some players who appear/sound technically proficient but who lack that 'soul' delivery at which jamerson was so special.

all music, on any instrument, is better, IMO, when played from the heart!
