A small local guitar shop has a mint condition (all original) mij mustang for sale, very little wear & tare. The bass comes with the original fender case. They want $799.00 for it. Is it me or is that kinda high?

I think that's what it cost when it was selling new in the US. Maybe $900. Nowadays a good used price is $500. Closer to $600 really. I've seen GC selling them for more. MIJ Fenders are getting expensive.

I paid less than that when I got my MIJ reissue new. Mine didn't come with a case though.
