On some of his records, I'm pretty sure that Jason used a Gibson EB-2. IIRC, he's used the Mustang on some of his work with Air. But really, in this age of social media, I'm pretty sure you might be able to get a hold of Jason himself for gear questions.

JMJ - What particular flavors do you like your Mustang for? (Didn't you post recently that it's part of your current touring rig?)

When I saw Jason w Beck in Boston (killer show! But missed you), he was using one too, and it had a very boxy, super funky sound. He used it throughout.

Made me want one. There's a beat up cheap 70's root beer one on Ebay, too bad I don't have the scratch for it right now.

I like my Mustang for most anything, really. You can rock out on it, or you can be relatively mellow. But it has so much midrange "note" and punch, that you can't really be as subtle on it as you can on other basses.

I saw Jason with The Grays back in the day & he and Jon Brion traded the same Mustang bass back & forth all night. One of my fave shows of all time.
