Jay Z has always seemed like a good man to me, and, assuming that wasn't staged, this video reaffirms that belief.

I'm actually surprised that he's taking the subway to a gig, an arena gig no less. That's cool too...
Looks very much like a publicity stunt to me, since he had no reason to take the Subway and was surrounded by heavy security at all times. It's not like he actually interacted with regular people on a simple subway ride.
His Bentley must've been in the shop. Hell, I won't even take the train unless I absolutley have to
I agree that it's a publicity thing. Makes sense since he's performing at the new Brooklyn arena and owns a piece of the Nets, who play there--he's probably trying to encourage people to come to the games from Manhattan.
But in his defense, he has to have security on the train or he'll get mobbed. And he *thought* he was interacting with a regular person, and seemed pretty down-to-earth in the process.
And let's not forget that Rihanna, who's Jay Z's protegé/niece/babysitter/mistress or whatever, just did exactly the same thing in London.
Man, it must suck to live on CynicalEarth 24-7.
And that's not security, that's a posse. I didn't know that, as I've not checked TMZ in......ever.
Seriously tho, no duh it's a publicity stunt, but it was still cute.

Ninety years ago, poor people in NYC were selling liquor. Some stayed criminals, others got into legitimate business. More than a few rich people made it by any hustle they could manage until better opportunities popped up.
More than a few rich people would be embarrassed if the origins of their family fortunes were traced. Even some legal sources of wealth like slave plantations are not exactly honorable by today's morals.
BTW, spare me any race thread crap. I was just coming up with an obvious example of a "tainted" fortune.
