Jazz Bass bridge cover

I'm thinking about parting with my 74 Jazz Bass and wish to reinstall the original hardware. On the bottom side of the bridge cover is/was a foam strip that when installed on the bass, lays across the strings close to the bridge. I guess as a dampener. As it turns out, after being in storage for 43 years the foam is/was rotted away pretty much to dust. I need a new foam strip for this thing. I'm not even sure what to call it so I have no idea what I need to order. Any thoughts? Thanks

Put the ashtray in the case. All that matters for resale is that you have it. The foam mute is immaterial to value.

Agreed. Leave it to the buyer to add a non-original mute or not. You adding it may actually decrease the value should anyone care, though I doubt they will.

I hadn't thought of it quite like that. Good idea. I'll even throw in the pickup cover and screws to boot. Thanks
