Jazz bass pickups

I know I've already posted a couple forums about peoples opinions comparing a couple pickups. But now I want opinions on which is the absolute best pickup for a jazz bass. I play a large variety of music but mainly classic rock and alternative. Te bass I am using is fretless with an alder body, birdseye maple neck, and macassar ebony fingerboard. What pickups do you think are best to make this bass awesome.

I don't think you're going to get anything close to a definitive answer that you're looking for when you ask a question that is basically a value judgement.

But probably a set of nordstrand nj4's made out of solid platinum with a fusion reactor powered pre-amp. That would be best.

j/k ;)

You're going to get a different opinion from almost everyone, so you may want to get real specific about what kind of sound you want.

What sort of sound are you looking for? There is quite a range that you can get in definition of 'awesome'! I'm really liking the new Aguilar 60s vintage p-ups and Nordstroms are very solid too. What sort of amp are you using?
