Double Bass Jazz Bass Teacher Bay Area

I think you should make different choices if you already play the instrument well and want some jazz technique and theory vs. you are a beginner who wants to play jazz.

If you are a beginner altogether it is best to start with someone who has a strong classical background.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Bruce Moyer is an outstanding classical teacher in the San Jose area.

How 'bout John Wiitala? Is he still there? Great player.

I think he's still here and chimes in on the forum from time to time. Oakland or Berkeley, I forget.

Jazz Bass teachers I can think of in the Bay Area:
John Wiitala - Oakland/Berkeley
Glenn Richman - Alameda
Seward McCain - Palo Alto
Pat Klobas
Richard Duke - SF
Ed Williams - SF
Bill Noertker
