Jazz Bass tone with and without pickguard?

Hi guys.

It is my video. Althought i don't hear any difference.

I recorded this because we've had a little debate on Polish forum on that.


It's just a vid for you to decide if there is difference or not.

Nothing sounds the same as classic Fender pickguards. That's what all the engineers ask for, not to mention anyone in a blues band.

I replaced the silver pickguard screws with black ones... You guessed it! The tone is darker.

Now I want to buy a jazz, then get some rounds and flats.

Without the pickguard, play rounds, with bridge solo'd with a maxed out tone.

Then with the pickguard, flats, neck solo'd withe the tone at zero.

Post it to youtube and see what happens.

on a serious note, i have a made a pickguard that does have an affect on my tone. it is made of 100% glued-together howler monkeys.

So would a metal pickguard officially make it the best bass for metal?

You sunsabiotchez. You simply cannot best my emulating algorythms. Oh you'll see. The WORLD will see.

Oh and ha HA on the pickguard screw composition and plating. Already got THAT COVERED. I've got FOURTEEN BANKS dedicated to that alone.

Did you remember to add in the hardware color algorithm?

Everybody knows that black hardware sounds darker than chrome or gold....

I personally prefer worn vintage pick-guard screws for warmth. The new screws sound too harsh.

That's why Jazz pickups are that particular shape. Leo tuned the pickgaurd, with what he had learned in his previous attempts to tune the P pickgaurd
