Jazz Bass with DR Fat Beams

Dr Fat Beams - love them. Feel and warmth of flexible nickel rounds with the top end of steel. Last forever age well.

Hi Beams - nice and zingy, but preferred the booty of Fat Beams.

Sun Beams..... haven't made my mind up....where I like the flexibility of Fat Beams I didn't like it with the Sunbeams but the strings sounded good. Warm with different mids than Fat Beams and different (but in my opinion not quite as sweet) top end.

Lo Riders - didn't like them. Scooped, lifeless tone and rough feel.

Live me some Fat Beams, they get my vote.

I think I have to agree. Fat Beams might be the way to go

Some years ago when I started using a beefy Warmoth Jazz as my number one player, I got used to stringing it with Sunbeams, but I'd play them for a long time before occasionally changing them for fresh ones. Either I was lazy or cheap about it, but their feel along with that well broken in sound and response became my personal normal with that bass.

I don't think I've ever really had a tragic string experience with anything else, but Sunbeams always feel like home sweet home and if those aren't handy when I'm picking up fresh sets, I'll try to stick with nickel DR's.

Cool, sunbeams seem to be the underdog among these options

I just ordered a set of Fat Beams from Jason at Fret Nation, who informed me they're currently in back order from DR.
