Jazz Bass with Flats

I haven't put flats on my Jazz yet, but I recently had a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats put on my Stingray, and the tone is so good.

To be concise, the tone of Cobalt Flats is: a marriage of almost flatwound thump, with almost roundwound sustain, with almost no finger noise. A slightly sticky feel which slowly goes away.

If you haven't tried them, treat yourself.

Mike
I put the same strings on my 1987 Stingray. I set it aside for years because I lost the taste for its bright tone, but the Cobalt Flats brought it back into rotation.

Flats ^ and

Rounds^.

Each has their place. Same for Ps.

Okay... here's the situation, I need some advise. After acquiring a VM Precision wrapped with D'Addario Chromes, I'm thinking I want change up some strings on my VM Fretless Jazz and Fender Jazz (both are currently wrapped
with D'Addario Half-Wounds).

what are peoples thoughts on these configurations

I have 1 set of LaBella Tape Wounds (DTB) and 1 set of Fender 9050Fs

I was thinking I should

- La Bella DTB on the VM Fretless Jazz (SD Quarter Pounders P/ups)
- Fender 9050Fs on the Fender Jazz (Fender CS 60s P/ups)

Anyone have advise?

I recently put 9050 flats on my 2009 Classic Vibe Jazz bass and I am absolutely loving them.

I think tape wounds on the fretless makes sense (though I don't have experience with that set up)

Looks to me like you've got the right idea.
