Jazz Improv. Teacher

Wondering if anyone here has an improv. teacher they could recommend? I have a lot of theory knowledge as I used to play vibes before I found bass, but transferring it to the fretboard has been frustrating. I need someone that wouldn't mind a student that is knowledgeable in the subject but a beginner in execution.

Where in Connecticut are you? It would be well worth going into Manhattan once a week, if you’re close enough, to study with Joe Solomon. He was a student of Lenny Tristano and studied and played with Sal Mosca. If you are at all interested in double bass, he also did his Masters work with Julius Levine, so he’s got a great arco approach and a well thought out pedagogy for physical approach to the instrument, i.e. relaxed technique.
