jazz pickups

i'm wondering how accuratley these seymour duncans(SJB-1 vintage for jazz bass®, single coil) will fit to their name - specifically in an ESP Surveyor-II /w maple that i'll be getting

jazz and funk are the sounds i'm looking for... does anyone here have any thoughts on this?

I doubt they'll sound much like a vintage Jazz if you're not putting them in a Jazz. The pickup is only a (small) part of the sound.
