Jazz with covers?

I'm thinking of installing covers and a thumbrest on my J to give it an old school look and flair for blues/jazz gigs.

Can anyone share your experiences playing fingerstyle with both covers on the Jazz bass? To restrictive or manageable?

Your right guys, this stuff is for looks mostly, especially the thumbrest and the bridge cover. Perhaps the pickup cover would be handy for a rest.

Is there enough room between the covers to pluck the strings, or is it just to restricted?

I put the bridge cover on my jazz and will say honestly it was a big mistake IMO. I like how it looks but another part of me doesn't. It gets in the way and I am sad that I drilled two holes in the body.:(

If you want to do it buy the covers and temp them on with some double sided tape or something and see how you like the looks and playability before drilling into your bass.

I love the looks of that. My fretless is gonna have a bridge cover, and since all my playing is done over the neck pickup, it wont be a problem for me.

There is room for my hand to play, but it pretty much only gives you that one spot to play in. I like to be able to move my plucking hand to get different tones.

Half my problem is the non-Fender covers I have. The bridge cover seems to be a little over-sized and over hangs the pickup making the space between the two covers smaller. I have small hands and find it cramped.

The thumb rest can be useful when it is mounted on top.

She sure is a looker all dressed up though.
