Purchased a 'Ray body last year and have let it sit due to other projects. Even tried to sell it here....

Decided recently to finish in transparent orange. Transtint dye in de-waxed shellac sprayed using a harbor freight touch-up gun...

Ordered a Warmoth Jazz neck with rosewood board. Other accessories arrived today (pickguard still has protective plastic on it)....

Got the preamp from ebay as a clone of the original pre-EB MM 2-band. Curious to see how it turns out.

Will spray clear lacquer on the neck and body this weekend after drilling for the bridge. Was going to order Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup to finish the package, but bestbassgear.com is temporarily out-of-stock. Sigh....

Whoa! I woulda went with a tort guard, and a maple neck, but the rosewood might end up awesome. Definitely calling for dark tort though.

I wanted to see a Jazz body w/a MM PU; not sure what HS I was expecting. Very nice so far.

Very cool. Is it just me or is that rosewood board really light? Maybe needs some lemon oil.


I love the overall look of it though. Orange MM basses are GAS>><<

Yep. I struggled with whether to use the Jazz style or modify.

Yes, I agree - it is. I'll oil it after the lacquer coat on the rest.

I have a Warmoth Jazz build with a maple neck. I'm not sure that I won't switch the necks (Rosewood Jazz, Maple JazzRay) at some point.....
