I just put this back up because there is another bass I'm interested in. If the other bass sells before I get the chance to buy it I'll be taking this back down.

This is an incredibly beautiful custom 5 string jazz bass made in Spain by JCR Luthiers. Rarely seen in the US this bass is on par with many boutique basses built in the states such as Fodera, Nordstrand, Lull and Sadowsky.

    Here are the specs:

    Koa Top
    Mahogany Body
Birds Eye Maple Neck and Fingerboard (refinished by Pat Wilkins)
    Nordstrand Hum-Cancelling Pickups
Mike Pope 4 Band Active Preamp
    Black Hardware
    34" Scale
    1.75" Nut
    18 mm String Spacing
9 Pounds, 4 Ounces (on my digital scale)

This bass has punch and tons of tonal attitude due to it's sleek construction and high end pickups and preamp. The neck is VERY fast and the action can be set VERY low. The instrument resonates as though it's one all one piece when played. There is a unity and a sense of perfect balance when playing this bass that I have not found with any other instruments.

$1,975.00 shipped in the CONUS - Gig Bag included!

    My old bass!
I'm the one that brought it from Spain. That's actually a Mahogany body with a Koa top ;)

I owned this bass and it has an amazing tonal palette. The 4 band Mike Pope preamp and the Nordstrand pickups create a unique combination. It could go from a deep low end for Samba, R&B, Reggae to a sizzling Slaping tone. The neck is fast and Jaume Catalan Redondo craftmanship is top of the line.

Hey I know that slap line! That line was originally played by the incredible George Hawkins on Junkanoo Holiday done by Kenny Loggins, am I right? Sorry, I'm either a master of the obscure or old (or both). GLWTS.

You are absolutely correct! George was a big influence on me back in the '80's..... Good ear (and memory)!

OK, this beauty is coming off the market (and the classifieds) by this weekend if it hasn't sold. I have now had multiple buyers make me an offer, which I have accepted in most cases, and then I never hear from them again. Honestly I'm getting a bit weary of this.....

Maybe I'll just keep this one.
