Jerry Jemmot - Essential listening

Great thread! I studied with Jerry on the mid -80s, when I was just a kid. He's indeed the groove king.

Aretha- Think (Freedom)
Wilson Pickett - Hey Jude
King Curtis - Soul Stew, Live.
BB King - I believe he was on 3 BB albums, including Alive and Well.
Roberta Flack- Killing Me Softly
Etc. Good start though.

Enjoy!

That sounds freakin' awesome. Now, you have two options: de-rail the thread now with that story or create a new thread detailing that experience.

The live Aretha Franklin recording from the Fillmore in San Francisco. King Curtis, Jemmott, Billy Preston, Cornell Dupree, et. al.

Also recorded at the same gigs is a live King Curtis album.

"Completely Well" by B. B. King

Aretha's recording of "The Weight", it's got Duane Allman playing a great bottleneck part too.

And a second recommendation of the Champion Jack Dupree.

Jerry also plays on all the songs on the below listed Freddy King album. His playing on that CD is the only reason, I bought it. (although Freddy is a great bluesman regardless)
