JFK airport nightmare

Flying into the US used to be an easy thing to do pre 9/11. I prefer to not fly into the US because of the "welcome" you receive. You can easily get the feeling that you are guilty of having done something. MIA, LAX, SEA, it makes no difference. If you're coming in from abroad with a foreign passport, expect it to be less than pleasant.

I can't wait to front up to JFK in October sporting my new beard (which isn't in my passport photo). I am sure it will be a warm and friendly welcome!

Wear a beenie and dark glasses for maximum effect. Then, when you get up the counter, read him your rights.

When you get out of prison, start a FB thread and tell us about your experieinces and how you expanded the "circle" of your friends in prison.

I think it's part of their operation. They under staff the counters to make passengers wait inline. The agents know that the longer a passenger wait, the easier they show signs of nervousness, and restlessness. From there, they can profile the passengers, and monitor their behaviors. When a passenger finally gets to the counter, the agent will talk to you in a monotone, and be very authoritative to further intimidate you. It is a way for them to root out a normal passenger from a smuggler/potential terrorist. My opinion and all that.

Man, everyone is antsy by that point, terrorist or not! I would say that cost-cutting has more to do with it than anything.
