JHS. Your opinion. Live with or just leave?

I mean honestly I wouldn't know because they don't care enough about me to show me their stuff. I was standing at their NAMM booth and the dude I was talking too, who is in a ton of their pictures on Instagram, seemed so uninterested in me that I had to leave. All the bad press aside, if you are not personable, then forget you. You could at least pretend to give a crap that your shop is 15 minutes from my home and I'd love to talk more about your stuff.

So pretentious and odd. Don't care.

I leave politics and religion conversations at the bar, lol.... but as a businessman myself, communication and showing people they are important is everything. Having said that, I knew nothing about jhs, or whoever owns it until recently, but I do own a jhs colour box, that other than a seriously annoying click when I turn it on, I love it.

Not a fan.

All they seem to do is rip off other designs and try to pass them off as their own and charge a fortune for it. Kinda like giving answers to questions that nobody asked.

The Colour Box was a cool idea until I saw the $400 price tag.

I think I'd rather drink toilet water than give JHS any of my money. Garbage company. Pretentious thieves that smell worse than a hipsters mustache.

That's what is cool about the used market, you can buy a colour box without ever giving money to JHS ;)

Seriously though, I don't care about Josh Scott's politics, religion, whatever. I just won't contribute to his little empire of cloning, ripping off, and intimidating small builders.

That being said, it's sad because the colour box was their one semi-original idea. I mean, at the end of the day, it's their ONLY pedal that is not a direct clone of another pedal. Sure, it's yet another Neve clone, but not another pedal exact copy.

I have said this before, I would never look down on anybody who owns a JHS pedal, even if they bought it new. It's not like you are encouraging slavery or anything of the sort. I just hate JHS the company, that is all.

Even the name is a ripoff

my dealings with JHS were limited, and frustrating, but I did get a personal response from them on a simple question. I asked if they could mod my EHX turnip greens, they said they couldn't but if they picked it up they'd let me know. I don't know anything about their politics, and I'm not a huge fan of the prices, but the products seem solid and I don't know any JHS users that are unhappy with what they've got.
I tend not to worry about a company's politics. What they do with their time and money is their business, what I do with mine is mine. I'm not marrying them I'm making a limited number of transactions with them.

I don't mind the cloning or copying because with the tons of rat, muff and tube screamer clones there really aren't many original designs most pedals are just variations of a handful of circuits and as far as the other stuff I don't have any experience with that but they do sell a decent amount of pedals so there must be people out there with a different opinion of the company?.
