Jimmy Johnson

Jimmy can be heard on countless recordings from Lee Ritenour,
James Taylor, and so many others. His main bass is a Series II
Alembic 5 string that has incredible tone, and an unusually tight
string spacing. One of the true pioneers of the extended low range
bass next to Anthony Jackson on the 6 string contrabass.

I think those early F&TBBs are some of the very first digitally recorded albums too. Recorded to stereo 2 tracks IIRC.....

I think this was the 1st commercial digital album. Recorded in 1978 at Sound 80 Studios in Minneapolis Direct-to-Digital on a prototype 3M digital recorder. Only released on vinyl. Rather rare... awesome playing!

"Guinness World Records Certificate: Sound 80 Studios, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, was constructed in 1970 and became the world's first multi-track digital recording studio in collaboration with the 3M Company, the developer of multi-track digital recording. The studio complex is now part of Orfield Laboratories."
