JimmyM: Your Buddy Made The News!

Bowser must spend quite a bit of his time doing political rallys, events, etc. Over the last few years, he has been in my hometown several times for fundraisers and rallys for one particular candidate. He has never performed with his band at any of them.

I was invited to attend events he was at a couple times. The first time I declined but I went to one this past spring for a candidate who I am not voting for and never have but I went anyway. Some friends of mine took their classic cars to the event and Bowser posed for photos with the cars and their owners.

He and I had a conversation regarding music since I organize concerts and festivals and he does concert promotions and we also discussed the laws he has helped push regarding fake bands with no original members playing under the original band names. We traded business cards with our phone numbers and email addresses and said maybe we could do a show together in my region.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at Carl Gardner's (original lead singer of the Coasters) retirement party here in Florida. That was sometime around 2003- 2005. Bouser was very much involved in lobbying to outlaw those fake "original" groups. The problem is that the government considers it a state issue, so lobbying has to be done state by state. So lobbying efforts need to be increased by a factor of 50!

He played the fool on that TV show, but he's no idiot. He was a nice guy too.
