JMJ signature bass

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but if you could have a signature bass that people could just go out and pick up what would it be?

I always dug that Geddy Lee Jazz you used in NIN but I guess you couldn't have that.

Maybe a P bass, or the Guild?

There is another thread about the idea of a Starfire, and lots of good thoughts. I know I hope it someday happens because I'd be first in line!! :^)

The solution to this is for Fender (who also owns Guild, as I recall) to create a line of JMJ basses. They could have a custom Starfire and Jaguar, and maybe a low watt tube amp that works well with dirt pedals.

To be honest, what the hell bass do I most associate him with? I really don't associate him with a specific bass at all.

I actually should have specified. I personally always dug that wacky Hellcat he played from time to time with Beck.

I guess I'd mostly associate him with P basses but I always dug the look of the all black GL Jazz with the cream pickups... plus I've always considered JMJ to be the best bassist NIN ever had.

Funny. When I think of JMJ and his instruments, it's either the Guild Starfire II or a Fender Precision. I think everyone's got their own perception of what bass is most closely associated with Justin, but perhaps that has something to do with everyone's favorite projects/artists?

Thanks, all. I really appreciate the thoughts, the votes of confidence, etc. The fact is, I've shot myself in the foot over and over again. I'm NOT the guy who plays one instrument. I like the idea conceptually of having that one bass, but frankly, it's a hard nut to crack for me. I'm a slut, and I love all the fun bouncing around with different instruments. I have some really good ideas, in fact, of ways that a bass could do a couple of different things and be very unique (which Fender could most certainly build) but so far I've just kept it to myself.

These days, I'm really spending the most amount of time (live with Beck, in the studio with whomever) with my 1) Starfire, 2) Mustang, 3) Pino P-bass w/ rounds or '66 P with flats. That's as "distilled" as I seem to get. That is, until I plug in one of my weird, clunky sounding T-birds and get all stoked on that. Etc. Sigh.

JMJ, I understand you like to switch between different basses depending on the SOUND you're looking for for a particular project or song?
Now, what about when it comes to FEEL when playing? are you just as comfortable with any bass / neck / scale?

Revisiting the subject, I think that Guild would really benefit from producing a JMJ signature Starfire II bass. And if Fender really wanted to go hog wild, a 70's style Mocha Precision would be very cool, too.
