Job Offer!

After working hard throughout my schooling, maintaining an almost perfect 3.8GPA, I have been offered my dream job working for the company that I want to be working for! There is plenty of room for advancement and I will be working under VERY good managers that are more concerned with having a well done job and the development of the people working under them, than they are with protecting their own jobs.

I want to give a shout out to Mike (munjibunga) for his help with interview preparation. He is a fantastic guy.

Congrats man!

What is your dream job?

-Mike

It is an entry level civil engineering design position. I'll be doing Land Development and Storm Water Management for the most part. There is a lot of room to move up in this company and my direct manager and the branch manager are great people to work for that are more concerned with the development of new talent than they are about protecting their jobs. Both managers have the opinion that they should always be training their replacement.

This has been a tough year for finding jobs, not because of the economy, there are just as many positions open as there usually is. The problem is that my graduating class is more than double the size of the average year. Last year there was 17 in the graduating class, this year there is 38.

EDIT: this also keeps my streak up of being offered every job that I have ever interviewed for. I guess that means that I interview well?

Cool deal. Our son is the guy who transfers your drawings to points on the ground so the earthmovers can come along and make it a reality.

I have done my fair share of surveying in my coop terms and I have taken four courses in it. If I wanted to, I could easily go that direction and become a OLS (Ontario Land Surveyor), which is the designation for a legal, licensed surveyor in Ontario. That isn't what interests me all that much, but I will probably do some of it for the next few years, as the company that hired me doesn't have anyone that knows GPS surveying and I have experience/education in using GPS surveying.
