Beautiful John Kallas 1966 Jazz Bass. Kallas builds these as close to original spec as possible. That means nitro finish, period correct tuners(lollipop), 1966 neck profile, 1966 headstock. Great looking bass that also sounds great. Many say these are nicer than some Fender Custom Shop builds and I have to agree. Has a very small ding on body-see pic. Weight is about 9.3lbs. Bass comes with a matching lollipop Hipshot D-tuner installed(plus original E tuner in case) and tweed hardshell case. Buyer pays shipping. Lower 48 USA only. Last pic shows a page from the 1966/67 Fender catalog with the bass this one was modeled on far left. Possible trades for a Fender P Bass+cash.
These are great basses. I own one and it's my first call jazz bass. Every bit as good as some of the real vintage Fenders IMO.
I've got this '87 Ray....and others (Cirruses/Millenniums/G-Basses) if you are interested. I'm in RVA so shipping won't be an issue. PM me back if interested.
Wait, I'm not trying to be a jerk, just curious how he can use the headstock logo and not have Fender get upset? Nice bass btw.
My understanding is he built this for himself initially. He's not in the business of selling Fender copies.
I don't know exactly. I assume it was made by Kallas as a '66 replica and it was likely a special order by one of his customers. All I know is it looks the part, sounds the part, and plays great. Very low action on this one.
