Hi Lee,

Just wanted to let you know how delighted I was to catch you on TV at the John Lennon 75th Birthday Celebration tonight! Great work on your Warwick Star Bass! :thumbsup:

One curious thing, though, was what looked like an Aguilar rig you were playing through. Can you tell me a little bit about it? Any special reason for that particular setup?

The bass rig was a rented backline amp that I have never used before. It worked out fine but I have used Euphonic Audio for ages and they did not have one for the show and did not want to pay to fly my rig out. Just carried my Starbass on the plane and plugged in.

I kind of thought it was odd to see you playing through an Aguilar, but this explains it.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a prime example of how a great player like you can sound just like you regardless of the gear. Maybe there is a lesson in there for some of us who are a little too stuck on gear with a tendency to whine and complain whenever we don't have just the right setup and blame it on the "wrong equipment" when we don't sound good.

You've always stressed over the years you're not a "gearhead" and this proves it. So refreshing... :thumbsup:

I just finished touring for a couple of months in Europe and the UK with Judith Owen and ended up using a Peavy tiny little amp with a single 10 in it. Stuck it under the chair I was sitting on and no one ever even saw it. Got a little rumble in my ass and for a duo and trio situation it was perfect. Found it in Bryan Ferry's dumpster. They were throwing it away. I now have it.

Ya know, I plugged my acoustic bass into an abandoned Peavey guitar amp with a single 10, thought it sounded great, used it for an open mic and was psyched about the midrange presence as well as some great low end... if only I had found mine in Bryan Ferry's dumpster...
