Well, the video pretty clearly shows that... :o :D ;) He's had that Demeter stuff forever, though.

But he did have I believe a Titan V12 and a BB750 into 410 and 212 ISO cabs at least for the Octavarium tour and I guess up until now, from everything I could find on YT. And then various SWR amps and cabs before then.

I think this is true. I'm a huge fan of the Titan V12 and PH 4x12's. I can't imagine not being heard with a Titan...even with all the fighting for frequencies that goes on in DT.

Yep, but if that soundguy just refuses to help out, doesn't matter. :( Ridiculous.
Am listening to ADTOE right now and his Bongos sound awesome.

Might be just a 'too much of a good thing' with all the processing and everything.

One of my favorite moments regarding this type of thing was seeing an early version of Chick Corea's Electrik Band' (not sure if I put that 'k' in the right place), with Scott Henderson on guitar. He had an effects rack the size of a fridge, and some guitar with switches and knobs all over it. All I could hear all night was what sounded like pink noise through a phase shifter or something. Al Dimeola opened the show on acoustic, and was invited on stage for the obligatory 'Spain' encore. He walked out with a Les Paul and plugged directly into a little Fender Princeton Reverb or whatever with a mic on it, and it was like GUITAR... fat, articulate... hear every note.

I'll never forget that. Same thing happened to me back in the day... I had the Alembic Pre, the Furmin parametric, the PA power amp, and when the little GK400RB came out, it blew that big rack away in a mix:D

I was watching some old DT vids on YT last night and yeah, kinda funny (in a sad way) how that works, huh? :hmm::hmm: He has much better sounding gear and basses (IMO) nowadays yet we can barely hear it.

With all what processing...? :eyebrow: Only 1 signal of the 3 even has effects on it, and that according to his tech is just sparse parts of his sound.
In the video he goes to point out that the FOH signal is mainly from his Demeter tube DI.
His in-ear setup is what he likes in the compressor+preamp+poweramp->JDX, so,,,

Yeah, processing was probably not the right thing as an example. My Alembic/Furmin/PA amp example was probably better... such a wide, pure, flat, even tone that the low end sits right on the bass drum and the top end gets lost in the cymbals, and the mids that are there are destroyed by the guitar. Sometimes trying to get the ultimate tone from a rack into $1,000 in ears is exactly what you don't want in a large venue in a busy mix.

My point with the processing example was to say that sometimes you reach a bit too far and what results is the bass (or guitar) not slotting where it should in the mix.

Again, only commenting on this since many say his live sound is totally buried.

I agree, just making sure we were watching the same video and all! :D
Also if he was having trouble with dual Mesa heads and cabs, I dunno if that 400RB is gonna do much good, ya know... ;) :D

I came across some video from like maybe 92 and he had a full backline of SVT 810s with Mesa and Ampeg heads and a few processors and it sounded extremely massive.
I know John P doesn't even play w/ live cabs as a backline anymore so that would be another reason why Myung can't.

I blame Rudess for anything negative about DT, though! :D

First, DT was awesome tonight. Better than they have been in a long while. From where our seats were: dead center, a handful of rows back in the lower section (just above what Verizon calls "pit" seating), I think Myung had great tones, and could be heard just fine. Other than a couple of spots that were a little low on volume, I would go so far as to say that if you couldn't hear him, maybe you should consider taking up sailboating, rather than bass.
Jordan was too loud in many spots, but I don't think that would surprise anyone here.

All of this is IMO, and I don't presume to speak for any other TBer's that were there.
