JOINT FORCE BASS QUARTET | We have an exciting announcement! Our distinguished bass player, Master Sgt. Ben Thomas, will be performing at the International Society of Bassists 2025 convention with the Joint Force Bass Quartet in Tallahassee, Florida! With over 3000 members, the International Society of Bassists is an organization dedicated to raising worldwide awareness of the double bass by inspiring, educating, and connecting people, music, and ideas through fellowship and performance. This performance is tomorrow, June 3, at 4 p.m. at Florida State University.

The Joint Force Bass Quartet features 4 esteemed premier band bassists.

- Master Sgt. Benjamin Thomas of The United States Air Force Band: The Airmen of Note.

- Musician First Class William Ledbetter of the United States Navy Band: The Commodores.

- Master Sergeant Regan Brough of the The United States Army Band: The Army Blues

- Staff Sergeant Kevin Thompson of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band

If their upright basses are anything like the Navy uniforms, they probably have at least 100 types of different basses that their musicians are required to maintain even though they'll probably never use them 🤣

BVS does have one. I also tried one at Robertsons in ABQ a few months ago. Really nice, kinda loud. kinda $$$! Like over 10K.

I don’t think Management would have taken us seriously if we had presented a bass quartet idea to them. Remember that at the time we were in, Management thought the rhythm players were “lesser people”. At least that was my experience with (names redacted).

@Leo Smith - ya I feel you there. Some people just ain’t hip! That’s all I got to say about that! 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️
I do highly recommend visiting BVS in Greensboro if you’ve not yet. Great shop and people. I spent most of my time there recently drooling over an old Pöllmann.
Anyway- to stay on topic, so glad to see these dudes are throwing down at the convention.

Perhaps ironically, the Navy bassist is the only one wearing a uniform that qualifies as functional. The other three are wearing tunics. People seem to love the look, but IMHO that's about the only good thing about them.
