I know Peter Hook is famous for using his clone theory pedal, but on Shadowplay, it sounds more like distortion or a fuzz pedal. Does anyone know which (if any) he used? Thank-you.

Marshal 100W Lead Amp "rewired for bass, whatever that means..." is what he indicated in his book. Used it for the entire record.
Sorry, the actual quote is: "This riff reminds me of my old amp. I had a 100-watt Marshall Lead Amp, wired for bass. I don’t know what the difference is – something to do with the frequencies – but it had a fantastic, rich, warm sound, especially when you played high. All the songs on Unknown Pleasures were written and played on it; it sounded great. It used to sing to me, that amp: such sweet distortion. It was wonderful."
So yeah, no pedal, just overdriven amp.
