JPTR Bass Jive

Has anyone received a corrected 1.2 pedal yet? I ordered 10/29 and haven't received shipping notice yet.
Fffffck. We're still on the October orders? 😴
There's a video - but it's a mix of guitar and bass and most of it is with a very driven hot signal.
I really hope they can get a pedal to the major demo channels for proper videos.

No shipping notice yet. I'm 10/30. Haven't seen any news on their Face/Insta about the new batch being made either. Of course, they might simply not report it, but they sure love reporting just about anything online. Can't say they're not active online.

I'm finding that the Normal Jive setting in the middle has little to no overdrive. Even with the Gain knob dimed, it stays very clean. I hear it coloring the sound, and it sounds good, but I'm not really getting any dirt from the middle setting. Is this expected? I didn't own a "normal" Jive prior to this and I expected it to have some dirt on tap from the YouTube videos I watched . I checked the PCB and it says 1.2 so I received one of the fixed versions.
So after doing some quick testing, my bass jive works the same as you are describing. I had my bottom switch set to the Clean Boost, which gets dirtier the higher the gain.

The middle setting did get some dirt to it when playing harder and the gain ~noon and up.

I sent mine off to the US fella they have doing repairs Jeff from Frost Giant Electronics (Fuzz Worship | Guitar Pedals, Tshirts & more) at the end of tail end of March. Haven't got it back et but it's only been 2 weeks. I'll post back when I get back for anyone interested
I just received my Bass Jive back from repairs today. I sent it directly to JPTR FX in Germany. It now functions as it should in Normal bypass mode.

Overall gain is about the same on either clean or classic mode. They do have different breakup characteristics and different tapers though. Theoretical gain is about 27dB for both. Whether it distorts depends on your input signal as well. Are you using a 9V supply or higher voltage? With higher voltage you get more headroom for classic mode.

Is there a manual yet? And no demo's or video manual from JPTR FX? I would think they would want that for marketing as well.
Manual is on the way. We have a guy for graphics who’s working on it. Videos are in the making as well. I was hoping to record some myself as well on the weekend if time allows for it, including a comparison with the regular Jive.

Next batch is expected to ship by mid April. That should cover most if not all remaining orders. (Please don’t quote me on that, I haven’t looked into every single order)

I see, thanks for the quick explanation Ratterbass. I'm running it at 9V. I think my input signal may be too low to get much saturation from the classic mode, which makes enough sense. Plenty of that in the parallel drive mode.

Just sharing useful info: I had the hive and sold it because dirt felt too compressed.

I just wanted to say that I got a moonn electronics Holi jiver kit (a super hard one circuit without crackle and a rotary selector for clipping modes) and I’m LOVING IT.

This might be my final overdrive/saturation pedal (famous last words!!) but do try it if you can. Much better to my ears than the jive

Just to clarify: are you comparing it to the regular Jive or the Bass Jive?

Just ordered a kit, thanks for the heads up! Looking forward to trying it out.

Apparently the guy from Frost Giant isn't answering emails from the JPTR FX crew

So...?

I assume all 3 are comparable, but only have experience with the regular jive
I see, thanks for clarifying. The regular/old Jive does have (intended) overlaps with the BassJive (with the BassJive set to classic mode and the regular Jive with no clipping switches active), but other than that they can be pretty different. Glad you found something that works for you, though.

Has anyone that was frustrated with the situation gotten their bass jive yet?

Wondering if the feeling is that the pedal is good enough to forgive and forget.

Ended up keeping my preorder after some of the updates, but I haven't gotten it yet... and I may have to cancel because we have an expensive house project coming up and I need to save the money vs give into GAS. Might also list some cool stuff in the classifieds soon that I'll likely regret selling later.

I'm satisfied with the purchase as it does offer a nice sounding addition to my set up. But I will say that I'm not 100% okay with the frustrations of the ordeal nor will I likely ever purchase from JPTR FX again, even if they offer something stellar. I got mine in the first batch that has the error but I am reluctant to have it corrected even though I will have limited usability.

So i've ordered a Deluxe Jive last month and this pedal Kit is also currently on the way (ordered 2 weeks ago). This pedal kit was sent through DHL 10 days ago but has not arrived yet. The OG jive was a clone off this circuit i believe, with extra 3 switches added.

I don't have any experience building a pedal but im going to start with this kit. This is relevent because if i can build this thing and get it working while i wait for my Deluxe Jive to be shipped then i will be cancelling my order regardless of how good this Deluxe Jive will be. Ridiculous that its taking so long and little updates given to the paying customers doesn't show a lot of respect given.
