Jule Amps Monique Part 2.

If I play hard, I can nail that Flea tone with Monique with my Modulus or MTD easily.

Monique breaks up (overdrives?) the harder you play for sure.

Cliff Burton bass solo distortion ain't happening without effects though.

I don't use a ton of effects, but Monique seems to play nice with envelope filters and my crappy Boss Chorus.

Now before I get slammed, yes I know Flea here is playing a Wal, maybe through his GK 800RB and there is a lot of fret buzz but this is about all the grit I need. I just chose this as an example of the dirty tone I'm going after. Not too tart, not too sweet.

Also, I've read through but what are the EQ center points? Thanks fella's. I'm GASSING bigtime for one of these, just want to make sure it will pull off what I'm after.

Wow looks pretty awesome! Has the integration of the power amp been tested fully yet? Does the Mo power supply need to be modded at all or does it supply enough current to support the power amp? I saw on the Dem site that the power amp is transformer coupled to the pre. Is it the same configuration for the De-Mo?

Hey guys,

Like I mentioned mine will be here Friday and I cannot wait but I have ANOTHER (I know) question. I thought I remember someone on here pairing theirs with a GK MB800? Initially, that's the power section I plan to use by running it into the heads effects loop. I'm fairly sure this renders all the controls on my GK useless with the exception of the master. Is it best to run the GK's master wide open and use Monique's Line Out as my master?

If I read it right, the power amp will be built into the rack Monique, but will be a separate box for the birdcage and bamboo (with the same footprint).

Yes, bad for the budget. I play on running mine either into the front-end or the effects loop of my Pumas (either 500 or 900 depending on the gig), but a dedicated box would be cool and would give me plenty of options - preamp, power amp, two heads.

You are reading that right. Jule and I have had quite a few conversations about the set up. (Jule, do you have an amp I can come by and try out?)

I've played with it both in the front end and in the effects loop of both my Walter Woods and my GB 9.2 Max. So far, the effects loop is much preferred. Seems like much better gain control.

The De-Monique is cool, but as a current dove cage owner, it would be hard to justify a $1000 standlone poweramp to just sit under the Monique. Lots of great 2000-3000w (bridged) <10lb power amps out there for $350-600.

I would be interested in an integrated rack Monique/Demeter if I didn't already have the standalone Monique pre though.

A whole lot of testing, but I'll be happier when there are about 100 making music so we can all get feedback. James Demeter hasn't made a bad piece of gear that I know of. His telling statement to me was something like, "because of the big tube sound of Monique, she sounds even better through his 800D amp." :)

I've recommended that Demeter-Folk get on here at TB, but I think they are shy.

Everything is built inside and takes advantage of the power available in the Rack Mount Monique. He even borrowed my DC regulated filament supply.

The Stand-alone Minnie is a little different, but still made to order simple.

Give James a bit of time to catch up, then come on by. You know what Jule Amps World Headquarters looks like. ;)

Some folks will prefer putting Monique in through an Effects Return. That way you have eliminated all the front-end "character" as well as the redundant EQ of the amp. You then only have to keep track of one EQ and front-end.

Besides, she likes being in control.

First of all, congrats on getting a Monique!! Welcome to the club! ;)

I, for one, am pairing my Monique with an MB800. So far, I've only used its power section(effects return, master volume only), but I plan to try Mon in front of the head as well at some point, just to find out how that sounds.

Although I have not tried diming the master volume on the GK, I suspect that could work well in a rather loud setting. :bassist:

I do, however, use the Monique Line Level as my master. Mon and the MB800 play so well together, it's pretty much like having an amp with one gain(Mon sensitivity) and two master volumes(Mon line level + GK master). On second thought, pretty much the same concept as channel B on the MB800(except it sounds different, of course).

What I have done so far, is to set the line level of Monique at around noon(adjusting sensitivity to taste), and then raising GK master to a suitable level(around 9 o'clock with 1x15 cab for a singer/songwriter type gig with a drummer and P.A.-support.). For me it definitely works best to set the GK where I want it, and then do the small volume adjustments needed with the line level on Mon. It seems harder to make micro adjustments with the GK master because it gets louder real quick. Plus, the controls on Mon are so smooth! :hyper:

I don't know if this is the ultimate way of doing things, but it certainly works very well. Tomorrow night I'll try turning the GK master up more, and lowering the Mon line level.

One other thing, which has been said before by others, is that Mon is remarkably quiet! I keep putting my ear close to the cab to listen for hiss/noise, but it's never there! :D

I used Monique briefly with a GK MB Fusion and it sounded killer. Better into the effects return (the GK only as a poweramp) but pretty damned good using the Fusion pre in conjunction with Monique.

I prefer the dedicated poweramp though, but Monique seems to sound great with anything IME so far.
