July 4th

We have a neighbor a couple of blocks up the beach who pays a fireworks company to come and do a display. It's maybe 3 blocks away. The explosions are a little bit smaller than the city's, but they are much closer to the ground, which makes them seem so much bigger. He does his, and they finish about 5 minutes before the city's about 2 miles up the beach. The city's are almost anticlimactic after the neighbor's. The city's were postponed to tomorrow, due to the hurricane uncertainties. Getting ready to hit the beach with the little one right now. Last year he was out of town on the 4th but paid to have the fireworks done anyway. Awesome neighbor!

Got smashed and ate 30 wings last night, followed by some $$$ cigars my friend got from his dead grandpa. Headed out for a redneck 4th celebration (random camper in the woods north of Butler for those familiar, so you know it's legit). (Cheap) Beer, mud, fireworks, probably stop and get greasy fair food. **** yeah America!

I work at 6am tomorrow. :(
Guys there were guns too!

Cooked a bunch of dead animals - 15 people. 16 burgers, 16 brats, 20 chicken drums, a small pork loin. Baked potatoes, veggies, blah, blah. Way too much beer for the cook(me) - the wife and I got into a brief f-u but then we reeled it back down.

The bold part sounds interesting.

Next time you and the wife have words, show her my picture. She'll throw her arms around you.

^I guess I did word that funny. She always gets stressed out - heck I cook 95% of the food, all she needs to do is stay the &*(^ out of my way. She must have forgiven me or forgotten, I got more than arms thrown around me after people left.:smug: Great day - bonfire, people playing frisbee, little kids running through a sprinkler, dogs running around everybody, great fireworks from our "highest point for a few miles" location.

Day before we had moved my daughter and I drove the truck. So we had to drive together in wife's car back home. You know you live in the country when your wife asks you if you saw the dead deer about a mile away from the house and then you have a brief back/forth about how fresh it looked. It's like CSI Back-Country- "I think this here deer's been dead for 4 hours". "Naw, couldn't be a hair over 3, the tummy ain't even puffing up yet and the sun's been up fer 2."
