Jumping into effects need help!

So been reading these threads and now more confused than ever. I play classic rock, rock, some reggae, and punk. Have $200 to spend to get started and want some experts advice on which way to go:
Zoom b3 or individual effects like ???

Play fender basses jazz and p, also have a musicman through a gk 1001 RB and a 115 neo cab.

Get a B3. Play around with it to see what you like and don't like. Then you can research some individual pedals if you feel it's for you.
