Just-a-Nut Question for Warwick owners

I am looking at a Warwick 5-string bass, however play a 5-string with a high C instead of the low B.

How adjustable is the just-a-nut? Will it be able to accommodate the high C or do I have to get a new nut installed.

Thanks in advance!

I've never tried that string arrangement on my Thumb 5,...but I don't see any issue in doing it, you might have to tweak the nut a little bit to get your setup right.

FWIW,...I'm not a big fan of the JAN IIs (Just-a-Nut 2) and when my bass took a dive a few years ago; chipping the nut at the G string, it was just a good excuse to replace it with a bone nut. I couldn't be happier. It's more comfortable and more solid feeling IMO.

My understanding is the original JANs and the JAN IIIs are superior. I've even seen brass JANs which would make sense considering the frets are also brass on most 'Wicks.

I've owned my bass since 2000 (a '98 model) and never once adjusted the JAN, as that's beyond my comfort level of tinkering. I did have it replaced as the stock JAN II was a little weak in the center portion and bowed in from the downward string tension of the E-A-D strings. Warwick/Dana B. Goods sent me replacement; stiffer JAN free of charge; but this was way back in '01.
