Fender MIM pickups and wiring harness from ‘bassman74’ (TB- Canada)

Tuners, knobs and strap buttons from ‘searchfunction’ (TB)

Sadowsky Blue Nickels from ‘FunkBoy’ (TB)

Fender vintage (threaded saddle) bridge (ebay)

W/B/W pickguard from TNT Guitars (ebay)

... got an aged cream pearl p/g on the way... will see- when it gets here!

I quickly added this up in my head, because of being Canadian shipping will kill me.

1. Body 60+40shipping = 100
2. Neck 100+40 shipping = 140
3. Ducan Quater Pounder = 90 delivered
4. PG 30 + 20 shipping = 50
5. strings 22 local
6. pots, cap, etc... $20 local

I already have the rest of the hardware

So that would cost $422 aprox for me to build that bass, I can get used Fenders here for $350

If it was not for those damned shipping prices I would love to build a few :crying:

Yea- well- not using these parts for a 'keeper' bass... I have assembled a few, from Fender parts, for my playing basses... this is just for fun... not planning to save any money- either... just using some 'fun-money' to hone my skills! :D

This bass will, more than likely, be in the 'Classified' section- in a week or two... or it may be donated to an 'aspiring' new bassist!!! :bassist:

... or maybe you could find a hole in the fence- and sneak 'em back to your house?!? :ninja:

I've heard concerns that the wood on the GF bodies is very soft, along the lines of "it'll dent if I look at it too hard". What's your opinion of it? I've looked at them but I don't want to end up with something that can't take a bump or three (especially with a two year old running rampant in my house).

Well- the only way to know for sure is to whap it.. but I would say that is does seem as though it is a bit soft... but for $60.00- it will do the job... within the last year I've purchased two Fender Amer. Spec. & a Squier CV body... I paid $300.00 $ $200.00, respectively, so I use them 'in public'!!
I probably wouldn't plan to, unless I had no other choice, use this in an environment where it would be 'tossed about'.

BTW: I don't have any little ones running around!! :D
